Triphala is a well-recognized Indian polyherbal medicine consisting of dried fruits of the three plant species Amlaki (Emblica officinalis), Hareetaki (Terminalia bellerica) and Bibhitaki (Terminalia chebula) in equal proportions. It is classified as a Tridoshic Rasayana in Ayurvedic medicine as it promotes longevity and rejuvenation in patients of all constitutions and ages.

• As a Rasayana: 500 mg – 01 gm daily in the morning, empty stomach for better absorption or as advised by the physician.

• Children & Geriatric: Under the direction of experienced Vaidyas for oral use, depending on the disease.

• Adults: 03 to 06 grams per day in divided doses or as advised by the physician.

• Pregnancy & Lactation: only under the direction of experienced Vaidyas.

SAFETY PROFILE:

Triphala in natural form is considered safe. But large doses of it can cause digestive symptoms like diarrhoea. Hence, starting with a small amount is always good.

CONTRAINDICATIONS DRUG INTERACTIONS:

1. Malnutrition

2. Abdominal tenderness

3. Pregnancy

1. Triphala inhibits Cytochrome P450 potential

2. Decreases effect of Anti-clotting drugs like Warfarin

3. Chronic medicines for Diabetes, Hypertension, Depression etc.
