According to Ayurveda, there are three doshas or bio-forces in the body: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. When imbalanced, these doshas can cause health issues of varying severity.
Sleep disorders are a result of an imbalance in the Vata and Pitta doshas in the body. Vata is composed of Air and ether elements and controls movements in the body and the nervous system. Vata is quick to change and responds to even small disruptions in your daily routine. When out of balance, it leads to fatigue, impatience, lethargy, sensitivity to minor stress, and a lack of clear thinking, which are all well-known symptoms of sleep deprivation and poor sleep. Vata has five subdoshas, and one of them, called Prana Vata, governs our head (brain). Vata can be disturbed due to dietary and lifestyle factors, including irregular diet, a diet devoid of Sneha (oil, ghee, etc.), and stale food, as well as excessive exercise and irregular sleeping habits. Mentally, if someone is often engaged in Chinta (worry), Bhaya (fear), and Shoka (grief), it can disturb Vata and put the nervous system under stress, leading to difficulty sleeping.

Pitta is a bio-force made up of fire and air elements. A subdosha of Pitta called Sadhak Pitta governs emotions, and when it is in imbalance due to the factors mentioned, it can cause excess anger and/or disrupted sleep, often leading to waking up in the middle of the night.
The herbs in Blissful Sleep help balance both Vata and Pitta doshas, thereby helping you sleep better.
